Metastasized Prostate Cancer – My Research

Our journey began with a routine DOT physical which truck drivers are required to have every two years.  My husband’s prostate gland was enlarged so the doctor sent him for a colonoscopy.  A few polyps were removed, nothing serious but they found his prostate was large and referred us to a urologist.

The urologist found his PSA level was 8 which is high, so he did biopsies which were all negative for cancer.  He was put on a 3-month checkup at first and then moved to a yearly checkup as his PSA stayed at 8.  We were told prostate cancer is not a fast-growing cancer and his PSA seems to run high.  I remembered our family doctor commenting after my husband had his yearly bloodwork done in the past, “WOW, you have really good testosterone!!”  He didn’t say one thing about slowing it down as now we have learned that is what causes prostate cancer!  Could this have been prevented?

I had helped my dad through prostate cancer at age 82 and his PSA reading started at 4 jumping to 8 and then to 14 within 3 months.  Again, we were told the same thing, “Prostate cancer is not a fast-growing cancer!”  His doctor didn’t want to treat his cancer due to his age.  I insisted he receive the radiation treatments as he was young for his age, very active attending grandkids activities and feeding his horses etc.  My thoughts were, “I don’t want my dad to die of cancer, it is a painful death!”  At the time I didn’t understand that prostate cancer can spread to any part of the body including the brain, and it travels fast.  He received 3 months of radiation, did well continuing his daily activities until the last two weeks he was extra tired but recovered and died of congestive heart failure at age 87, cancer free.

Every year for the next four years my husband had his yearly PSA test and the number didn’t change, I was prompted in December 2018, 5 months before his yearly checkup was scheduled to have another PSA test drawn.  I called the doctor’s office and the receptionist said she would give this message to the doctor and if he felt like he should have the blood test, he would let us know.  We never heard back.  I tried to find a health fair or a lab to do the test or another doctor with no results.  They all said they couldn’t interfere with the urologist’s decision.  Then our son was killed in an automobile wreck in February 2019.  I was a wreck and forgot about my husband’s PSA test. 

In July 2019 I called the urologist to schedule a yearly checkup and asked the nurse if he could have a PSA test done before the appointment.  She scheduled the test.  I will never forget how the doctor reacted.  He walked into the room and said, “Your PSA is at 25 and anything over 20 is usually metastasized (spread outside the prostate), like no big deal!!  The cancer had started growing in December.  I had to hold back my anger as I said, “I asked to have a PSA test done in December and you wouldn’t do it!”  The doctor said, “Medicare only allows one test a year.”  I wanted to reach out and choke him!!  Why didn’t you tell me and allow me the opportunity to pay for the test?  I kept telling myself to ‘get a grip, you can’t rework the past.’  I looked at my husband sitting in the chair not knowing what to think after hearing this news.  We were both devastated, and was thinking that this could have been avoided.  Prostate Cancer is treatable with radiation if you can catch it before it spreads.   

We were sent to Boise, Idaho for all the tests and body scan.  My husband’s cancer was in the back part of his prostate, had spread to a lymph node next to the prostate gland, above his tail bone in the sacrum and in the left 10^th rib, which is stage 4 because it had spread to 4 different places. The cancer is all considered prostate cancer no matter where it spreads to.

A team of 5 doctors at St. Luke’s Cancer Center met and discussed his case.  They all agreed, he should be put on the hormone therapy program as radiation wasn’t the answer because of the location of the cancer.  We were told there is no cure for metastasized prostate cancer but the hormone therapy they put him on would stop the cancer cells from spreading.  The oncologist said my husband would be on this protocol for the rest of his life and they could add about 5 years to his life.

A woman from the financial aid department came into our room to discuss payment with us.   Our co-pay would be $1,100 a month.  We were overwhelmed!  We had some money in medical savings account, but it wouldn’t go very far. My husband told her he wouldn’t take the medicine and will call it ‘quits!’  She left the room for a short time and returned with a “Tender Mercy from God!”  She told us about a financial aid program we could apply for.  She took our information and encouraged my husband to pay the first month co-pay and she would help us apply for a grant as another patient had just gone off this grant program and she was sure we would be accepted.  It took a while for us to realize that meant that patient had died, and we felt so bad.  My husband was accepted and what a blessing that others donate to this foundation. We followed the Oncology doctor instructions carefully.  Can’t sleep together; wash his clothes separately; can’t eat off a buffet; can’t be around people especially in a small room; No vitamins, take 4-250 mg of abiraterone every morning at 7 a.m.; can’t eat anything for 1 hour after taking the medicine; take 5 mg prednisone and 1-500 mg calcium tablet in the morning and night. The Lupron shot would be given to him every 6 months, which was $21,000 a shot. How much money could Medicare have saved if the insurance would have allowed the doctor to determine how many PSA blood tests he needed.  Our medical care is determined by our insurance.  The doctors need to practice medicine and the insurance needs to pay for what we need!

The last instruction was to eat a healthy diet and don’t take any vitamins. It took me a couple of months to wrap my head around what was happening.  I watched my husband go downhill.  He started having hot flashes, was extremely tired and weak.  His color in his face and skin became a grey.  He started losing his hair.  This was a lonely time for us.  No hugs and kisses were especially hard.  He was emotional and cried more than he ever did before.  I started asking myself, “No cure for metastasized prostate cancer in the 21^st century?  Are you kidding!”  The doctors work with breast cancer by encouraging yearly mammograms.  Why don’t the doctor’s encourage men to get a yearly PSA test after they turn 40?”  You only see advertisements on TV to increase your testosterone.  No wonder so many men have prostate cancer!   

After contemplating our situation, I decided to get on my knees and pray. My prayer went something like this, “Dear Heavenly Father, it is so hard to watch my husband go downhill.  We are receiving so many blessings, would I be ungrateful if I prayed for a cure?”  Immediately a thought came to my mind, “Do you know how many people you could help?”  I was taken by surprise and didn’t really understand how I could help others, but I started praying for a cure constantly and the Heavens opened.  Inspiration started flowing in. 

2020: Every night when I couldn’t sleep, I would get out of bed and turn on the computer or my phone.  At first, I couldn’t believe what I was finding.  Even though I didn’t understand what I was reading, I kept learning.  I included some of the links I found:

Next, I found information about Dendritic Cell Therapy practiced in Spain.   I downloaded a free booklet and learned Dendritic cells were discovered in the 19^th century, it was only at the beginning of the 21^st century that their role in adaptive immunity was discovered.  Ralph M Steinman understood that the primed dendritic cells were capable of detecting and destroying malignant cancer cells in the body and for his work he was awarded the Nobel prize in Medicine in 2011.  In speaking with the clinic from Spain, it would cost about $40,000 to send my husband’s blood to the clinic.  They would mix his blood with ingredients that would increase his production of dendritic cells and send it back. It must be injected back into his body.  At that time, I didn’t know how I was going to find a doctor to help me, so I continued to learn about dendritic cell therapy and found this website called Immacura:

I kept researching and was directed to Dr. Dean Silver in Scottsdale Arizona.  He cured his own cancer and then his father’s cancer.  I spoke with them several times on the phone.  I understood most of the treatment options he uses.  He doesn’t use insurance which allows him to treat the patient with what they need, instead of what the insurance dictates.  He estimated my husband’s treatment would start at $40,000.  I didn’t have the money but learned a few things from him.  Dr Silver said, “men don’t have enough T-Cells in their prostate to kill the cancer when it starts to grow, so the cancer takes over.”  He also uses a low dose chemo protocol.  I was impressed on how many people he was curing of various types of cancers.  Dr. Silver uses the following treatment options:

On November 10^th, 2020, my husband and I became very ill with COVID.  What a setback it was.  I wasn’t as sick as he was, so I was able to feed him a spoonful of homemade chicken soup every two hours for 3 days.   The chemo drugs had destroyed his immune system, so he had nothing to fight this terrible disease.  Three trips to the hospital for an IV.  The doctor wanted to hospitalize him, but our daughter said no!  They sent him home with oxygen but there wasn’t any medicine available at that time.  Long story short, he had to learn to feed himself, stand on his legs, learn to walk, write, etc.  I prayed for help.  I didn’t know what to do.  The oncologist said no vitamins. This was so hard for me.  I was diagnosed with Celiac Sprue Disease in 1981 and I knew how to read labels and fix healthy meals, but I had never dealt with cancer and now covid. 

 

Another ‘Tender Mercy” came at the grocery store in December where I saw a friend who has been through cancer, and she suggested I join a Facebook cancer group.  I didn’t even think of that!  Prayers are answered with small and simple things.  I looked for a Facebook group and found one called “Prostate Cancer and Research”.  I joined the group and found all kinds of information. OH MY GOSH-People were curing their own cancer!

 

I started researching the information they were sharing and ordered the book “How to Starve Cancer” by Jane McLelland.  I will admit it was a bit over my head, but she made perfect sense in the summary, and it coincided with the information I had found before. The following are quotes from her book:

“To summarize my protocol – Starve it.  Stop it spreading.  Snuff it out.” (For details, see her book)

1.      Starve the cancer

a.       Low glycemic diet at all times (NO Sugar)

b.   Include intermittent fasting (NO eating for 11 or 12 hours after evening meal)

c.   Exercise

d.      Investigate off label drugs

2.      Add supplements (I added Tumeric, Ginger and Black Pepper)

3.      ‘Pulse’ a stronger NSAID with a statin to trigger apoptosis.

4.      Be proactive

5.      Discover the individual metabolic drivers of your cancer by researching Pubmed for clues.

6.      Find out the genetic changes in your tumor

7.      Demand to have regular metabolic markers of your disease so you can chart your progress.

8.      Visit a practitioner in functional medicine. (He told us to not eat any foods with more than 6 ingredients.  Check labels.

9.      Combine therapies.

10.  Other treatments can be added to your protocol

11.  Target growth factors and MMPs with supplements and drugs

12.  Block estrogen

13.  Investigate drugs/supplements to target the abnormal signaling pathways your tumor reveals.

14.  Boost immunity (Our doctor wouldn’t do Vit C IV’s so I used the Emergen-C with 1000 mg)

15.  Oxygenate using intravenous Vitamin C, Liposomal C, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

16.  Avoid stress

17.  Understand the stage of your disease and do your own research.

18.  Be organized-Make a list of what you are taking and when you should take it.

19.  Listen to your intuition but do not always follow your gut.

20.  Keep an open mind!

Believe in yourself. 

 

We started supplementing him with protein drinks.  I changed our diet to all whole foods.  We eat a simple diet with 3 fruits, 4 to 5 vegetables a day, nuts, meats except for cured meats (ham) and no added sugar.  We don’t eat anything that contains more than 5 or 6 ingredients.  Cottage cheese, solid cheeses, sour cream, cream cheese, ruffles potato chips are a few products made from whole foods. Read the labels!

 

My husband’s health started to improve.  He still had side effects of the chemo medicine, but I am determined to keep looking for a cure.  We returned to the oncologist for a routine visit.  She didn’t know what to think.  Your color is good, you aren’t in any pain, your blood tests are all normal, let me check your heart and lungs and the rest of the 15 minutes scheduled were spent discussing his garden.  We left the appointment and I told him, “I am doing more for you than the doctor!”

 

I am grateful for all I had learned so far.  I felt there was more to learn so I kept searching.  I was astonished to listen to this story about Dr. Burzynski.  The FDA has spent 0ver 60 million tax dollars to try to stop Dr. Burzynski from curing people with cancer.  He has won several lawsuits at the Supreme Court.  I asked myself why would the FDA do this?  Are they involved in the big pharma also? His clinic is still in operation in Houston, TX.

This statement on the Evita.com website caught my attention.  I was interested in this hospital as it treats Lyme Disease also.  Our Oncologist told us there is no cure for my husband’s cancer.   Was the following paragraph true?  Was my husband written off by standard medicine and the standard protocol used on him focused on the management of the disease and not the long-term results.  Was this because I am in Idaho?  This was taken from the website of Envita Medical Center in Scottsdale Arizona:

I contacted the Envita Medical Center, but they do not take insurance.  They are working on getting an insurance company to work with them so this is not an option for us at this time, but I thought I would include the link for you:

While scrolling through the Facebook Group posts I saw this: “Have you looked at the Joe Tippens Protocol?”  I started following Joe’s blog and listened to his story.   OH MY GOSH!! A cure for cancer however, the FDA approved it for animal use only years ago!  Why would the FDA do this?

My husband was still trying to recover from covid, so I concentrated on getting him stronger and building up his immune system.  The chemo treatments make the immune system very weak.  Our family was praying for him.  I prayed for guidance in his care. 

 

In July of 2019 I had dropped a board on my foot and sprained my ankle.  I decided I would contact a foot doctor.  He took x-rays, no broken bones! My foot was red and extremely swollen.  He put me in a walking boot and later sent me to physical therapy.  The PT did everything possible for three months, but my foot was freezing up and I couldn’t move my toes.  Then covid hit and I couldn’t do anything about my foot until my husband was well enough to be left alone for an hour.  I finally made a follow up visit with the foot doctor in December 2020.  I was sent to the hospital for an MRI.  It showed the nerves in my foot were damaged and he told me I was looking at an amputation.  I left his office thinking, “I don’t think so!!  I’ll find a doctor who can help me!!”

 

I started looking through our local phone book for a neurologist and I found Dr. Hansen’s advertisement who listed 5 professional certificates:  Chiropractor, sports medicine, naturopathic, holistic and neurology.  He has been in practice for about 25 years.  I guess I just never needed him.

 

I made an appointment.  He looked at the MRI and said, “I can help you.”   He picked up a small clear tube of liquid, held it up and said, “I buy this from Europe. I take your blood, mix it with this and inject it into your foot.  It will help your nerves to heal.”

 

OH MY GOSH! Another ‘Tender Mercy” this was not coincidence!  I knew what he was talking about as I had studied dendritic cell therapy.  I was supposed to be in his office at that time laying on his table watching what he was doing.  As he was working on my foot, I asked him if he could visit about my husband.  He said, “Sure, What’s Up!” I told him about my husband’s cancer and covid and how I had learned about Dendritic and T-Cell therapy where they draw blood, spin it and put it back into your body.  I asked him if he knew much about cancer.  He told me he had Thymus Alpha-1 that is a shot and helps your own immune system increase the Dendritic, T-Cells, Stem Cells, kills bacteria and more.  I decided to trust him. Oh, by the way, he injected the medicine into my foot 3 times and manipulated it to loosen up all the joints.  I still have my foot!

 

He was very knowledgeable, and we started a plan to treat my husband.  Naturopathic medicine is not covered by insurance, but he wasn’t as expensive as the others.    He started with a blood test to see what was going on inside his body.  My husband was so sick he wasn’t aware of the things going on around him.  He laid his head back on the wall, was pale as a ghost and so weak he could barely move. I told him, “You have to trust me! I know God was answering my prayers every step of the way.”

 

Dr. Hansen started supplements to build up him immune system so his body could naturally fight the cancer.  Vitamin B 12 Shots, an IV, protein drinks, Omega 3 with fish oils, B-Vitamins, Vitamin C etc.   We took the Thymus Alpa-1 shot at home for 13 weeks and then did another blood test.  His blood test looked so much different than the previous one.  Dr. Hansen told us to take the shot for another 40 days, so we did. He also told me the only vitamin he can’t take with cancer is Vitamin K and St. John’s wort.  Why didn’t the oncologist tell me he can other supplements??

 

My husband’s health started to improve.  I believe now what Dr. Silver told me about using several different combinations together.  I believe you can add all kinds of nutrition and supplements to the standard care oncologist’s use. The Thymus Alpa-1 helped build up his immune system.  It helps the Stem Cells, Dendritic Cells, Plasma Cells etc. increase which helps your own immune system fight diseases. The activated immune system is then able to circulate throughout the body and destroy the cancer cells.  You can purchase TA-1 on a website Next-Health in California.  I believe TA-1 helped to save my husbands life.

 

He still has side effects of the chemo medicine but was praying for which cure to use.  We returned to the oncologist for a routine visit.  She didn’t know what to think.  Your color is good, you aren’t in any pain, your blood tests are all normal, let me check your heart and lungs and the rest of the 15 minutes scheduled were spent discussing his garden.  We left the appointment and I told him, “I am doing more for you than the doctors!” 

 

In June my husband broke a rib, so the next eight weeks were rough.  I had to do all his bending, twisting, and lifting for him.  It was good exercise, and I became stronger opening gates, moving sprinklers, etc.!  However, trying to decide which cancer cure we were going to use was put on hold again. 

 

I discovered “Proton Therapy” which is different than radiation.  It is more specialized and targets just the cancer spots different from radiation that kills everything around the cancer cells.  We had our oncologist send our records to the Proton Therapy Center in California for a 2^nd opinion.  The answer was, “If he was in excruciating pain and couldn’t urinate, we would take him.”  I couldn’t believe they wanted him to get this sick.  I have listed a couple of choices for you.

Another setback happened in May 2020.  Dr Hansen informed us that someone had posted on social media that Thymus Alpha-1 kills COVID, so the FDA stopped the production in June 2020.  I purchased a couple of extra bottles from Dr. Hansen so I could continue his therapy.  I now believe the FDA and Big Pharma and who knows who else, is using cancer, covid and many other diseases as money making projects.  I have found a clinic in California If they cared about us, we the people, we would be able to use any tool that helps heal us.  The government focused on the vaccine, but when we went to the hospital with covid, they didn’t have a cure they were allowed to use, only treated symptoms.  They should have focused on a cure to treat people.  

 

I finally decided to try the Joe Tippen’s Protocol but wasn’t sure about taking Fenbendazole 3 days on and 4 days off.  I kept praying for over 2 weeks and then a thought came to me to use half the dose 6 nights a week which is equal to the 3 packets a week.  I felt that God answered my prayers, so I went to the Health Food store and purchased some vegetable capsules.  I took each of the three packages of 222 mg and divided the granules into two capsules.  He takes 1 capsule after the evening meal, 6 days on and 1 day off.  We chose Friday night to give his body a rest.  Do your research at:

On August 15^th, 2021, he started the Fish Oil, Calcium, and the Emergn-C drink for breakfast. He also takes a Vitamin B12 after breakfast that dissolves under the tongue.  After the evening meal he takes one capsule of Fenbendazole, one capsule of Tumeric, Ginger and Black pepper I purchased from Naturewise and one calcium tablet. We continued the healthy diet and 80oz of water daily.  I believe in eating whole foods to get the nutrients needed to help the body’s immune system heal itself.  He has had NO side effects.

 

 

At our last scan September 21^st, 2021, 5 weeks on the protocol the cancer cells were not present in his prostate, lymph node next to his prostate or in his 10^th left rib. The cancer was still present on his sacrum only. What a miracle!  The oncologist couldn’t believe the report.  She told us the cancer might not show up today, but it will be back.  Cancer just doesn’t go away and never goes out of the bones.

 

We go back to the oncologist in December 2021.  She felt that the test was too dark, and something went wrong with the scan, so she scheduled another body scan for Jan. 6, 2022.  This was an answer to my prayers as I didn’t know how I was going to get her to do another scan.

 

In reading the report online it says the only cancer remaining was a small dot on the right side of his sacrum.  On March 9^th we met with the oncologist.  She went over his tests and said everything looked normal.  His liver was smooth.  His blood tests were normal.  She checked his lungs and heart and then said, “The cancer is so inactive it doesn’t show up on the scan, so if you want to go off the chemo medicine you can.”  She will keep us on the Harmon shot every three months and watch his PSA level in case the cancer starts growing again. 

 

I was shocked.   I have been preparing us to know how to take him off the Chemo and Prednisone very slowly as the side effects are worse if you stop taking the medicine to quickly. It took us a month to go off the medications.  He had some side effects, but they were manageable.

 

 I don’t make any statements that any of these cures I have in our story will work for you.  I do encourage you to take life in your own hands.  If you are not happy with your care, there are many options for you and God is always there to guide you. 

OUR NEXT STEP:  Our doctor told us we could go off the chemo medication when he still had an active spot on his sacrum.  I was okay with that as I knew we were still on the Fenbendazole.  I have been studying Pet Scans to get a 2^nd opinion, and they are not all the same.  I learned the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota has developed a C11 Pet Scan which uses C11/F-18 Choline.  Every active Prostate Cancer Cell will show up on the scan.  St. Luke’s is a PSMA Body Scan, Ga-68/F-18 Fluciclovine which is the same as the MAYO Clinic in Arizona.  I am keeping this in my mind if we feel we need a second opinion from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.

Our next scheduled visit on June 2, 2022 was amazing.  We saw a Nurse Practitioner we had never seen before.  She explained all the tests to us and talked about how they must follow the protocol given to them but can change it to help the patient have quality of life also.  After a lengthy visit about all the hot flashes he has, the weakness, getting tired easily and can’t build muscles, she suggested he not take the hormone shot that day and return for a PSA test in a month.  She told us that she will work with us as he might not need the hormone shot every 3 months.  Another answer to prayer!  We didn’t ask for a 2^nd opinion and will see what happens in the future.  We enjoy each day we have together and thank God for prayers that have been answered.  

Andersons: Sharing brings blessings- I shared my information with the Anderson family.  Their father/brother was diagnosed with esophagus cancer that had spread to his other organs.  He was sent home on hospice and given 2 weeks to 2 months to live.  He was on a feeding tube so he could get the nourishment he needed.  The family was devastated.  His daughter had a degree in nutrition, so she knew what to give him for cancer, but he couldn’t swallow.  After 1 week on liquid Fenben the family noticed he was breathing better and was able to swallow water. After two weeks he ate some asparagus that had been cooked and mashed up fine.  After 3 weeks he ate a little steak and potatoes chewing it up until it was smooth enough to swallow.  Since he was showing improvement, the insurance company said he had to take chemo treatments, or they wouldn’t pay for any of his other treatments.  Nutrition plays an important role in helping your own immune system fight diseases, including cancer.

 I just learned about the Book: The Cure for all Diseases by Hulda Regehr Clark, Ph.D.,N.D.  She believes that All illness comes from Parasites, Pollutants, Bacteria, Molds and Viruses.  OH MY GOSH!! I remembered living on a farm when I was growing up.  There were 8 children in and out of the chicken coop, pig pens, feeding and milking cows, sheep, horses, a goat, dogs, cats etc.  My dad believed in worming all of his animals and humans every spring and every fall.  He would purchase the de-worming medicine at the local pharmacy.  It was common back then.  I also thought back about our illnesses.  We had all the childhood diseases like mumps, chicken pox, several measles, sore throats, tooth aches etc. but we never had horrible diseases like people have today. The polio vaccine came out when I was in the 6th grade and I was the oldest child, so our family didn't have polio.

A few months ago my husband and I were at the doctor for a routine exam.  I asked the doctor if I could buy de-worming medicine for humans.  He looked at me and said, "Since you asked my about de-worming medicine I can talk about it.  The FDA has taken it off the market and doctors will lose their license if they talk to anyone about de-worming medicine."  He can't sell it or suggest to anyone to use it.  Imagine that! Is this why there is so much sickness and diseases?  

I found natural worming herbs that contain black walnut, noem, wormwood, clove and fulvic acid.  I haven't had any experience with natural worming herbs.  I did order the "Zapper" that Hulda talks about in her book.  I have used it for 3 months and have been happy with the results.  I had a crusty mole growing on my neck and it is gone.  I had pain and trigger finger in both thumbs.  They are still sore from overuse once in a while, but I don't feel much pain now.  I also just had a infrared sonogram and have a clean bill of health from my brain to my hips.  I believe the "Zapper" has killed the bad cells.  A friend cured his kidney cancer with the Black Walnuts and the Zapper.  I will update this after more time has passed.
