Why Can't You Lose Weight???? Newsletter from Isagenix

If you've ever stepped on the scale and wondered why your diet isn't having the effect you hoped it would have, here are some tips and reminders to help you reach your goals and have the body you've always dreamed of.

Too Many Calories

Weight loss is really all about simple math. If you burn more calories than you consume on a regular basis, eventually you will lose weight. Of course, that requires knowing how many calories you're eating.

If you just can't seem to get the numbers on the scale to move in the right direction, try tracking your calories – of every single thing you eat – for a full week. Look at food labels of everything you eat or cook with. You may be surprised with the number you come up with.

Not Working Out Enough...or Too Much

Remember the weight loss equation? Half of that equation involves burning calories. Sure, you burn calories through everyday activities like housework, walking to the store or raking your leaves. But when it comes to losing weight, you have to create an adequate calorie deficit if you want to see the pounds come off. But too many calories burned can also send your body into a tizzy, causing it to hold onto fat because it thinks you're starving it to death. Work on finding a healthy balance of diet and exercise.

Toxins in Your System

Scientists are just now beginning to understand the effects toxins in our everyday environment (air, food and water) have on our bodies. Even daily stress can release free radicals into your system, breaking down healthy cells and potentially slowing down your metabolism.

That's why Isagenix® has long offered Cleanse for Life® – designed to safely and effectively rid your bodies from the toxins you encounter on a daily basis. Cleanse for Life helps your body run more efficiently, giving you the best chance to burn fat and calories that can lead to weight loss.

Not Working Out Correctly

Any type of physical activity is important when you're trying to lose weight, but to really see the pounds come off, you'll have to hone in on the most effective types of exercise. That means combining cardiovascular exercise – the kind that gets your heart beating – with strength training. You don’t have to become a bodybuilder or even get huge muscles to accomplish your goal. Just doing some simple strength training exercises will help restore lean muscle tissue lost through exercise. Plus, muscle burns more calories than fat, meaning the more lean muscle you have in your body, the more efficient your body will be in burning calories to help you lose weight.

Not Snacking Properly

Sure, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but what you do in between meals could make all the difference when it comes to losing weight. Snacks accomplish two major objectives in the battle of the bulge. First, snacking properly helps keep your metabolism up. Second, healthy snacks prevent you from getting hungry throughout the day. When you get too hungry, you are more likely to overeat at your next meal.

Proper snacking involves limiting your calories and getting a balance of nutrition groups like carbs and protein. That's why SlimCakes® from Isagenix are the perfect solution to your snacking conundrum. With 20 grams of carbohydrates and 2 grams of protein packed into just 90 calories, SlimCakes help curb your cravings and provide you with a heart-healthy snacking option. Best of all, one serving of SlimCakes is packed with 5 grams of fiber, 20 percent of the recommended amount per day.

So get your snack on with SlimCakes and start losing weight – finally – today.

Nutritional Cleansing

Nutritional Cleansing is built upon the health routine of cleansing, including fasting and drinking herbal remedies, which has been practiced throughout history. Cleansing gives the body the chance to rest, regenerate and assist in its natural ability to remove toxins and impurities to promote long-term wellness. However, Nutritional Cleansing improves upon this ancient practice with a system that cleanses, replenishes and revitalizes the body with essential nutrients. Fasting helps to remove impurities from the body, but Nutritional Cleansing speeds up this process by infusing the body with healthy nutrients.

In simple terms, Nutritional Cleansing can be compared to changing the oil in your car. We regularly change the oil in our cars because it gets dirty and clogged by pollutants. We drain the dirty oil and replace it with clean oil, which helps our cars to run more efficiently. The same can be said for our bodies. We are regularly exposed to pollutants in our environment, impurities in our diets and stress that is often created by our hectic lifestyles. Nutritional Cleansing helps the body and organs to do what they are designed to do naturally and remove impurities.

Isagenix has created the practice of Nutritional Cleansing and developed systems that help to promote optimum health. Isagenix systems focus on a complete approach to greater health and wellness with Nutritional Cleansing, a low-calorie meal routine and taking essential daily nutrients. Cleanse Days are a period of low-calorie intake, with no meals and only suggested snacks, accompanied by our Cleanse for Life™ liquid nutritional supplement, which replenishes the body with essentials vitamins and minerals. The low-calorie meal routine consists of Shake Days where one to two meals are replaced with healthier options such as nutrient-rich IsaLean® Shakes, Bars or Soups. The third meal is a suggested low-calorie, nutrient-dense meal. The final component of our systems is an infusion of essential nutrients, which includes daily supplements taken that provide essential vitamins and minerals to optimize health.

Our Nutritional Cleansing systems are not a “quick-fix” or a diet, but a means to creating a healthy, manageable lifestyle. The benefits of Nutritional Cleansing, combined with the convenience of a complete wellness system, has given people the ability to change their lives in remarkable ways and has created greater health and safe, lasting weight loss for hundreds of thousands of people.

Wrinkles, Fine Lines, and Age Spots Damper Your Appearance

Laser Treatments? Botox? Surgery? Really?

Feeling good in the skin you’re in is important. Wrinkles, fine lines and age spots can put a damper on your appearance, leaving you feeling self-conscious and sometimes even embarrassed to go out in public or have your picture taken.
Some people turn to drastic – and expensive – skin treatments such as Botox, laser treatments and even surgery to improve the signs of aging in the face. But do you really know what you’re getting yourself into when undergoing one of these procedures?
Risks of Laser Treatments
Laser treatment, or resurfacing, has grown in popularity over the last several years, but you might be unaware of some of the risks involved, and what results you can actually expect from this sometimes costly procedure.
Deep laser treatments involve using a laser to resurface your skin, removing sun-damaged skin and allowing newer skin to grow in its place. Some laser treatments also claim to improve collagen production by penetrating beneath the initial layer of skin to the dermis, where collagen helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
But some of the risks of laser treatment include hyperpigmentation, according to the Mayo Clinic. This is a condition marked by the appearance of spots on the skin that may be darker or lighter than your regular skin. These spots can last up to several months after your treatment. Laser treatments also put you at risk for a herpes infection, according to the Mayo Clinic, especially if you already have a history of cold sores or flare ups.
What’s more, laser treatment can put a hefty hole in your bank account. Initial treatments can run anywhere between $2,000 to $5,000, not including any touch-ups your doctor may need to perform later.
History of Botox
Hollywood made Botox famous, but did you know that Botox is actually a controlled form of the disease botulism? Botox acts as a temporary muscle relaxant to help smooth out wrinkled areas of the face such as crow’s feet around the eyes.
The side effects and dangers of Botox have been well-documented. In 2008, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a warning about Botox after several children who were treated with Botox for muscle spasms died. Side effects of Botox include itching, headache, nausea and temporary muscle weakness in the face. Although it’s uncommon for the botulism contained in Botox to spread throughout the body, it is a possibility.
Botox injections usually run between $125 to $400 for each area of the face you want treated. Keep in mind that the effects of Botox usually wear off within several weeks or months, so you’ll have to invest several thousand dollars per year to keep up your appearance.
Is plastic surgery your last hope?
Going under the knife means taking drastic measures to help improve your appearance. Any type of surgery has its inherit risks, and face lifts and other forms of plastic surgery are no exception.
A face lift involves a surgeon making a large incision around the area of your temple all the way back past your ears, then literally lifting the skin of your face up towards your hairline in order to stretch out the wrinkles in your face.
Although literally thousands of face lifts are performed across the country each year with minimal effects, there are some risks involved with plastic surgery. There’s no way to tell how your body will react to undergoing anesthesia strong enough to put you under. Significant bleeding or swelling can occur at the site of the incision, especially if the doctor removes fat or tissue from the area. People who undergo a face lift are usually out of commission for at least a few days, and you’ll have to expect to wear bandages for up to several weeks after the procedure.
Muscle spasms and nerve damage in the face are also other risks involved when making such drastic changes to your skin and muscles.
Not to mention the fact that a face lift can run you anywhere from $6,000 to $15,000, depending on hospital costs, anesthesia and your doctor’s fees.
A Safe and Inexpensive Alternative
If you want to avoid the high costs and numerous risks involved with major skin treatments and surgeries, why not use a product that can address all the skin care issues outlined above? Ageless Renewal Serum by Isagenix® can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, helps exfoliate your skin and repairs damaged skin through its powerful blend of peptides, antioxidants and epidermal growth factors.
Unlike some serums and treatments that use harsh, skin-irritating chemicals that may require downtime to make skin look healthier, Ageless Renewal Serum helps the skin “remember” what it has “forgotten” as we age. This naturally-derived formula works in harmony with the body to support the skin’s natural ability to produce collagen and other proteins.
Best of all, it costs pennies on the dollar when compared to expensive treatments and surgeries that have made Hollywood doctors rich beyond compare.
So the next time you look in the mirror and don’t like what you see, reach for Ageless Renewal Serum and give your wallet and your worries a break.

Living with Arthritis

It's common to feel powerless and out of options when it comes to arthritis and joint pain. The pain can, at times, be unbearable and affect every aspect of your life. But, believe it or not, one of the keys to pain relief with arthritis may be found in getting up and getting active.

According to the Mayo Clinic, exercise can help relieve pain and stiffness in your joints and muscles. And that's not the only benefit you'll get from regular exercise. It can also help strengthen your bones, give you more energy throughout the day and make it easier to get quality sleep at night. That's important, considering one in five people have doctor-diagnosed arthritis, according to the CDC.

Range of Motion and Stretching Exercises

According to the Arthritis Foundation, stretching and range of motion exercises are the most important type of exercise you can get if you suffer from arthritis and chronic joint pain, and should be done nearly every day. Spend 10 to 15 minutes, especially in the morning, gently stretching and moving your problem joints. For example, if you have arthritis in your wrists and hands, do simple stretching exercises by slowly opening and closing your hand and stretching out your fingers. Move your wrist gently in multiple directions. You can even try doing these exercises while in the bath or while relaxing in a hot tub to help warm up your joints and muscles.

Aerobic Exercise

Aerobic exercise is any type of activity that increases your heart rate over an extended period of time. Some examples of aerobic exercise – also known as cardiovascular exercise – include walking, jogging, biking, swimming, dancing or sports like racquetball, tennis or basketball.

Aerobic exercise provides numerous health benefits, like strengthening your cardiovascular system, improving your endurance and helping you control your weight. That can be a plus, considering people who are overweight are twice as likely to have or develop osteoarthritis.

Tai Chi and low impact (restorative) Yoga

If you're looking for a more organized or group version of stretching and range of motion exercises, try activities like low impact yoga or Tai Chi. Tai Chi, in particular, can help sufferers of painful knee osteoarthritis. These ancient Chinese arts combine slow rhythmic movements with meditation. Tai Chi helps both your local pain and inflammation while boosting the painkillers (Endorphins) in your brain. Low impact yoga not only helps stretch and strengthen your muscles and tendons, but can also complement a weight-loss program to take some of the pressure off your joints due to the extra weight you may be carrying around.

Exercise Pain Relief

For those who suffer from extreme and chronic pain making exercise impossible, the first step is pain management. There are natural products available for pain management. To help ease the common aches and pains associated with exercise, be sure to apply the powerful pain relief of Ageless Pain Relief™ Cream from Isagenix. With its unique combination of natural ingredients, it helps to warm and then cool your aching joints and muscles to help you recover from a long workout. In addition, Ageless Joint Support™ tablets provide triple-action power to protect, rejuvenate and soothe your joints over time. No other pain relief product provides the same one-two punch as the Isagenix® Joint and Pain Relief System.

So get out there and get active, and support your joints with the power of Ageless Joint Support and Ageless Pain Relief Cream. It may be the best thing you ever did for your arthritis or chronic joint pain
