4 Solutions to Mid-Morning or Mid-Afternoon Cravings-Isagenix News
You know the feeling. The clock hits 10 a.m. or 3 p.m., right smack dab in between when you have your IsaLean Shakes and your stomach starts to rumble a bit.
But, don’t worry! Snacking can be healthy and low in calories so you don’t break the bank with calories or fall off the wagon searching for salty, greasy options or the vending machine’s candy bars.
Here are a few ideas of what you can bring with you no matter where you are for a quick, healthy pick-me-up:
1. One FiberSnacks!™ Peanut Chocolate Chew Treat. At 150 calories, nearly one-fourth of the calories originate from the dietary fiber included in the yummy treat. Packed with 6 grams of dietary fiber to help fill you up and keep you satisfied, along with hunger-curbing whey protein, this peanut snack bar is drizzled with dark chocolate leaving you feeling as if you’ve indulged your sweet tooth in something that surely couldn’t be good for you. (But really, it is!)
2. One- to 2- IsaDelight Plus Chocolates. With your hunger rising, your brain might also be feeling a tad fuzzy. Since it’s been over 30 minutes since you’ve had protein, it’s now the perfect time to indulge in this green tea-infused, creamy dark chocolate treat. At just 50 calories per square and fortified with amino acids and B vitamins, slowly enjoy one, have some water and wait a bit to see how it goes. If you feel a boost in alertness, no need to have another (but you just might want to!). Another great thing to know? It has less sugar than one-eighth of an apple!
3. Two Isagenix Snacks!® Wafers. Whey protein and chromium are the stars of the show this this 25-calorie snack (two wafers). Whey protein fills you up and chromium can help maintain appropriate blood sugar levels. Result? No blood sugar crash leaving you grabbing for other snacks or foods. Another great source of chromium? Natural Accelerator™!
4. One Want More Energy?® Stick. Sometimes what we THINK is hunger, is actually thirst. Hydrate-up with B vitamin-fortified, natural energy drink mix Want More Energy?. At only 35 calories per 1.5 tsp, toss it in a big cup of water, drink it up and wait a few minutes to see if the hunger subsides. If not, try one of the other snack ideas to stave off hunger until your next meal.
Stock up on your key snacks before you start packing for 2011 “Ignite Your Future” Celebration or your final trip for summer vacation! Not only will these snacks keep you on track toward your health goals, but you’ll enjoy every minute of these sweet little indulgences.

Dill Pickles - Easy to make and they taste great!
A few cucumbers, vinegar, water, bottles, lids and rings and you are on your way to making crisp, delicious dill pickles the easy way.
Have you ever tried to grow dill in your garden and experience the seeds spreading everywhere and dill sprouting up all over. Several years ago I tried the packaged "Dill Quick Process Pickle Mix" found in stores everywhere. Some stores carry "Mrs. Wages" brand and other stores carry "Ball" brand. I found both work great. The "Kosher" mix adds garlic so whatever you prefer.
There is nothing that tastes better than home grown, home canned food. All you need to do is grow a few cucumber plants in you flower beds, next to a fence or anywhere you can find a spot. If you don't have a spot, the farmer's markets are wonderful.
All you need is 15-17 pounds 3 to 4 inch fresh, firm pickling cucumbers; 5 cups distilled white vinegar that is 5% acidity; 11 cups water; 1 pouch Mrs. Wages Dill Pickle Mix and 10 to 12 quart jars with lids and rings. The directions are on the back of the package and so easy.
Not only are you saving money, but you have a supply of pickles in your pantry and best of all, you are eating food that is healthy for you.
Please let me know your comments!

CROP Hunger Walk - Communities Responding to Poverity
I have walked in the CROP Hunger Walk in our area for many years and now serve on the planning committee with 6 other wonderful people from several different religions. We all donate our time and efforts in raising money to help respond to poverity. I really enjoy participating in this world wide service as 25% of all monies raised stay in your local community.
Because of the CROP Hunger Walk donations have helped organizations in our community such as: Helping Hands Mission, Christmas Council, Women's Shelter and local Food Kitchens. It's a great opportunity to join together and "Bear One Another's Burden's".
This year the Mini-Cassia CROP Hunger Walk is scheduled for September 24, 2011 at 10:15 a.m. at Riverview Park next to the Chamber of Commerce Building on the beautiful Snake River. A light luncheon is provided for all walkers. Please bring your friends and neighbors and donate to this worthy cause.
What are CROP Hunger Walks?
They are community-wide events sponsored by Church World Service and organized by local congregations to raise funds to end hunger at home and around the world.
Why do people join CROP Hunger Walks?
Story highlights of just a few of the two million CROP Walkers, volunteers, and sponsors that put their hearts and soles in motion to help end hunger and poverty around the world.
What can we do?
Church World Service works with partners to eradicate hunger and poverty and to promote peace and justice around the world. Together we reach out to neighbors in need near and far--not with a hand out, but a hand up. So, if you’re looking to help build a better world—a world where there’s enough for all—you’ve come to the right place!
Around the world, Church World Service supports sustainable grassroots development, disaster relief, and refugee assistance, and we educate and advocate on hunger-related issues. In the U.S., we help communities respond to disasters, resettle refugees, promote fair national and international policies, and provide educational resources.
We invite you to join our network of local and global caring through participation in CROP Hunger Walks, the Blankets+ program, and the CWS Kits program.
If you want to change the world, you're in the right place. Get involved by advocating for change, joining a CROP Hunger Walk, holding a Blankets+ event or an alternative holiday fair, or cosponsoring a refugee.
Contributions to Church World Service support sustainable self-help development, meet emergency needs, aid refugees, and help address the root causes of poverty and powerlessness.
My favorite scripture is found in the Book of Mormon, Mosiah 2:17 "And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in teh srvice of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God."
Please donate to this worthwhile cause! Find a CROP Hunger Walk Near You!
Donations can be made online at www.cropwalkonline.org.
If your area doesn't have a CROP Hunger Walk you can donate to my team "Rupert Idaho West Stake" in the Mini-Cassia area. Help me reach my goal!

Make Your Own Freezer Jam - Yummm!!
I love to make my own freezer jam and there is really nothing to it. I like using Sure Jell Certo Liquid Pectin and just follow the simple recipe inside the box. The only ingredients you need are one package of pectin, 4 cups of sugar, 2 cups of fruit and 2 tbsp. lemon juice. If you don't have enough freezer space you can follow the cooked jam recipe and seal the jars.

Employee Wiggin Out on Pep Spice...
What a week this has been! Lots of activities going on at my work. I am the manager of a Staffing Firm. We hire many employees for companies in our area. I have so many experiences I could write a book but decided to blog instead. Some of my articles regarding work start with "Let's Get to Work"; however, this article is just a quick note about an experience I had this week.
I received a call from a client who stated that an employee of ours had attacked another employee and then ran outside the building shouting weird sayings, running wild allover the area where they have extra dirt, waving his arms and then he dropped to the ground as if he were dead.
The security guard called the local police who came and called an ambulance. We contacted his family and they said he didn't have any health issues that they knew about. Finally the professional team was able to get him somewhat coherent and he admitted to them he had used Pep Spice before coming to work.
It's so sad for me to see people who have been really good employees and then get in with the wrong crowd and believe the stories that Pep Spice won't affect a drug test and isn't harmful to use. It is a very harmful substance. Taking anything into our bodies that is not wholesome food is very dangerous and addictive.
Isagenix products contain food, are organically grown and very nutritious. "Let's Get Healthy" should be everyone's goal.

American Women are Living Longer!
Medical advances during the past few centuries have helped increase a woman's life expectancy. Improved sanitation and public health as well as diagnostic medicine, antibiotics and immunization have largely conquered infectious diseases and childbirth-related deaths.
Many women over 65 suffer from one or more chronic degenerative diseases-diseases researchers say could be prevented or postponed by changing lifestyles. Heart disease, cancer, stroke, accidents, cirrhosis of the liver, diabetes and complications of osteoporosis are now the primary causes of death among women.
The most important things to do to live a longer, healthier life is to learn about your body so you can recognize changes that may indicate illness and learn to ask intelligent questions to your health care provider. Use the information to help make decisions about your own health care.
The combinations of work, family and lifestyles are endless. More women are working and raising children without a spouse, adding economic stress and emotional burnout. May you decided to pursue your career rather than marry or have children.
Reducing stress has become an absolute necessity because of its terrible physical and mental toll. If you succeed at reducing stress through regular exercise, you are reducing your odds of developing certain debilitating illnesses.

Move it or Lose It!
Erma Bombeck once said, "The only reason I would take up jogging is so that I could hear heavy breathing again."
Exercise is important in our daily lives especially during our later years. Walking, jogging, swimming, dancing, cycling are all considered aerobic exercies that help you slim down, elevate your mood, and decrease your chances of heart disease.
It is important to pick an exercise that you can do for at least 30 minutes a day, three to four times a week. People who get hooked on moderate amounts of exercise will find it changes their life.
Nutrition and exercise are things everyone talks about and reads about but too few people take it seriously. If you are typical, you watch your diet when you are pregnant or trying to lose weight. If you are married you probably eat well as there are two of you to cook for. If you are single you may tend to skip meals or not eat a balanced diet as it is hard to cook for one person.
Women tend to take care of everyone else but themselves. Neglecting your own nutritional needs may contribue to short-term depression and long-term fatigue. Over time this neglect can even set the stage for more diseases.
A proper diet can help you control your weight, ease he symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and prevent osteoporosis (brittle bone disease), heart disease and cancer. Good food is good for everyone in the family.
There are many people who follow fad diets. The problem with most of these diets don't really work for long because the human body is clever in adjusting to different amounts and types of foods. For instance: if you go on a diet that drastically reduces your calorie intake, then within a few days your body gets the message from your brain that it must slow down the rate at which it burns calories (metabolism) in order to survive. Lowered metabolism makes it more difficult to burn off fat tissue and then you feel too tired to exercise, so there are is no reason to burn off the extra calories. It is a cycle we all experience at different times in our lives. Disappointed, you now return to your old eating habits and with your slowed metabolism, you actually gain more weight than you had before you began to diet.
Diets that are designed to keep you fit and deliver the appropriate number of calories have several recommendations in common:
1. Lots of complex carbohydrates
2. Less sugar and fat
3. Very little caffeine and alcohol
4. Small amounts of protein.
An ideal weight depends on your build but an easy to remember rule is 100 pounds for your first 60 inches of height and 5 pounds per inch after. So if you are 5' 4" your ideal weight would be 120 pounds. If you are not at your ideal weight, eating a moderate diet with the right kinds of foods combined with exercise will help get you there.
Perhaps nothing you can do will affect your physical and psychological health as much as regular exercise. Unlike your car, your body won't wear out with use. Quite the opposite is true. Stop using your muscles and they become weak. Stop moving and buring calories and you become overweight and flabby. You don't have to be a marathon runner or a weight-lifter to benefit from exercise. You don't have to buy tapes or join a club. Just get moving! You will feel better mentally and physically.

Must-Have Weight Loss Tips for an Incredible Summer Body
Thursday, June 30th, 2011 - Newsletter from Isagenix.com
April showers bring May flowers, but June temperatures mean one thing: swimsuit season! Whether your favorite spot is at the beach, at the lake or just hanging around the pool, those few extra pounds you put on over the winter can make you feel self-conscious and may even make you think twice before heading out for some summer fun.
But don’t fret! In just the course of a few weeks, you can shed off extra pounds and feel confident in your body like you never have before. Here are a few simple tips for helping you drop inches in a hurry.
Eat More “Naked” Food
Strip away the harmful foods weighing you down! The more natural the food you eat, the less toxins you are exposed to, and the healthier it is for your body. Processed food is full of chemicals, preservatives and other substances that actually slow down your body’s metabolism and can be difficult to digest. Instead, spend most of your time at the grocery store in the produce or whole foods sections where the food has been the least tampered with. “Naked,” or natural, food gives your body the opportunity to improve digestion and help your metabolism function more efficiently.
Drink Water. And More Water.
Good news: there’s a secret ingredient that can help speed up your weight loss — and it’s free. It’s called water.
That’s right, just drinking water can help you lose more pounds in the next month. And this isn’t just quack science. Actual scientific studies have shown that people who drink more water during the day lose more weight because they feel more full before and after meals, causing them to eat less.
Water is essential for the body to carry out its normal physiological functions. When we don’t consume enough water, our body becomes dehydrated and cannot function properly. Not drinking enough water can lead to fluid retention, causing weight gain. So next time you reach for that can of soda, grab the bottle of water instead, which has no calories and will help keep your body functioning at its best.
Set a daily goal over the next 30 days to drink more water. Start slowly, drinking an extra glass before each meal or when you can remember, then slowly build up to where you’re drinking at least 64 oz per day. You’ll notice a difference not only in your appetite, but in your digestion as well.
Get Moving — Whatever Way You Can
Too many people envision a loud gym filled with grunting bodybuilders when they think of working out. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Any time you can get off the couch and get moving more than you normally do, it will contribute to weight loss. There are many simple changes in your everyday life you can make to increase your activity and burn more calories. For instance, take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator, or park in a far-away spot that will cause you to walk further to your destination.
How about this: set a goal in the next 30 days to burn a certain number of calories. Whether it’s 1,000 or 10,000, set a realistic goal and then come up with a list of activities that will help you meet that goal. Even gardening or mowing the lawn can count. Whatever gets your heart rate elevated and gets you moving more than normal will contribute to weight loss.
Become a Math Nerd
There’s just no way of getting around it: calories count! Expending more calories than you take in will result in losing weight. Over the next 30 days, use a food diary to help keep track of calories you consume. If you don’t know the exact amount, take an educated guess (there are dozens of online calorie counting programs) and try to overestimate. You’ll be surprised at how counting your calories will help you be more conscious of what you eat, which can help curb your cravings and cause you to want to eat less.
Once you’ve got the art of counting down, do the math. Since it takes 3,500 calories to lose 1 pound, you’ll need to create a 500-calorie deficit per day to lose a pound a week, or 1,000 calories per day to lose 2 pounds per week. Use an online calorie calculator to figure out how many calories you need per day to maintain your current weight, based on your age, height, weight, gender, and average physical activity. Then crunch the numbers.
For example, let’s say your daily calorie need is 2,200 calories. If you eat 1,800 calories in a day, you’ve created a deficit of 400 calories. But then, you work out in the morning and burn 250 calories on the exercise bike, then go for a run in the evening and burn 350 calories. You’ve just created a deficit of 1,000 calories in a day. If you maintain this routine every day, you’ll lose a whopping 8 to 10 pounds in just 30 days!
Don’t Diet
Atkins. South Beach. The Zone. You’ve heard of all of them and, chances are, you’ve tried most of them as well. The reason they don’t work is that they require a radical shift in the way you eat that isn’t really sustainable over the long term.
If you want your weight loss to last not just for the summer but for the long term, don’t think of it as a diet. Think of it as a way of life. Too many people get caught on the yo-yo diet train, losing 10 pounds, then gaining back 15. Before you know it, you’ve spent five years off and on a diet, but don’t have anything to show for it.
Instead, have the attitude that you’re going to make a lifestyle change by eating healthier and incorporating exercise into your daily routine. You’ll lose the guilt that comes with indulging in your cravings from time to time and you’ll have a more realistic approach to your health.

Castle Rock State Park & City of Rocks
We enjoyed a mini-vacation to Castle Rock State Park in Almo Idaho. It was a very relaxing week-end with no TV and no phone service. We hiked around Castle Rock and took the following pictures. It was a spectacular view with rock formations that looked like different animals. Use your imagination and see what animals you can find hidden in the rocks.
After enjoying Castle Rock State Park we went to the Almo Outpost for dinner and the meal was delicious. There are hot springs just down the road, and other camping areas.
Close by is The City of Rocks. The following pictures show more beautiful rock formations and rock climbers enjoying the day.
A wonderful week-end in Southern Idaho. Beautiful weather! Spectacular View! Great food! Yes, Idaho is a great place to live!
