HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK!

I RECEIVED THIS EMAIL AND THOUGHT IT WAS SUCH GOOD INFORMATION I WOULD POST IT ON MY BLOG.  HOPEFULLY IT WILL SAVE A LIFE!

If you have seen it before, read it again - a refresher course never hurts. I hope none of you ever have to use it, but just in case, it's info we all should have.  It could save a life, especially for those who live alone.
     1.  Let's say it's 7.25 pm and you're going home (alone of course) after an unusually hard day on the job.
     2.  You're really tired, upset and frustrated.
     3.  Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to drag out into your arm and up in to your jaw. You are only about five miles from the hospital nearest your home.
     4.  Unfortunately you don't know if you'll be able to make it that far.
     5.  You have been trained in CPR, but the guy that taught the course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself.

HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK?

Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.  However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously.  A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest.

A  breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.

Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital.

Telling as many other people as possible about this could save their lives!!

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this mail kindly sends it to 10 people, you can bet that we'll save at least one life.

Bob's Red Mill & Ener-G Foods

A catalog from Bob's Red Mill came in my mail the other day containing recipes, advertisements and an article about the company.   It reminded me of my first experience with Bob's Red Mill over 30 years ago.  I was diagnosed with Celiac Sprue 3 1/2 years before this company started and was I ever so excited to have a few gluten free products.

Back in the early years of this disease there were no labeling of food, no internet just a set of encyclopedias and a Webster Dictionary.  I started researching all the ingredients in foods and began my gluten free life.   I spent a lot of money trying out recipes with only one disaster after another.  I was grinding my own rice flour and trying to make muffins, cookies, pancakes etc. so I would have a few things to eat besides the basic food groups.

I also found another gluten free company, Ener-G Foods that was really good and was able to place orders through the mail.  As the internet began to take off it became easier to find gluten free products.  The Celiac Sprue Association and Gluten Intolerance Group was started and has helped get the labeling of foods on the products.

It is so much easier to be gluten free in today's world and I am very grateful to companies like Bob's Red Mill and Ener-G Foods forging the way to provide gluten free ingredients throughout the entire process.  That means every stone-grinding mill, every mixer, every packaging machine, every forklift and every air-vent is dedicated to making delicious and healthy products that are safely free from gluten.

We now have 8 people in our family diagnosed with Celiac Sprue.  Thanks to all those who provide the "Gluten Free" foods!

Happy Healthy Eating!

ALUMINUM POISONING or COCONUT OIL

As I was getting ready for work today I realized I had not shared this experience with my 'online readers'. Perhaps it is because it is embarrassing to talk about.

When I was very sick many years ago and had not been diagnosed yet with "Celiac Sprue" the 'Gluten Intolerance' disease that everyone is aware of now.  My doctor told me I also had "Aluminum Poisoning" or "Toxicity".   My doctor put me on a prescription to help my body "Detox" along with drinking a lot of water.   I smelled like an aluminum can for 3 days and was so sick with some of the symptoms I listed below in this article.  It was awful!

The cookware I was using was aluminum.  The deodorant I was using had aluminum in it.  We drink out of aluminum pop cans.   I decided to throw out all my aluminum cookware and stop using any products that contained aluminum.   I try to choose fountain drinks or beverages in plastic containers.

Luckily I didn't perspire a lot so I only used deodorant when I really needed it.   I started using coconut oil to keep my skin soft and one day decided to try it the arm pits too.   I love it!  I don't sweat or stink!  My clothes aren't stained and hopefully it will help avoid alzheimers and breast cancer, too.  Taking precautions is important to avoid going through Aluminum Poisoning!

Symptoms
If you have any of these symptoms, do not assume it is because of aluminum toxicity. These symptoms may be caused by other, less serious health conditions. If you experience any one of them, see your physician, especially if you have kidney disease or are on dialysis.
  • Confusion
  • Muscle weakness
  • Bone pain, deformities, and fractures
  • Seizures
  • Speech problems
  • Slow growth—in children
Complications may include:
  • Lung problems
  • Nervous system problems causing difficulty with voluntary and involuntary actions
  • Bone diseases
  • Brain diseases and disorders
  • Impaired iron absorption
